WNYSLL Rules

Grades K-2

Two 25 minute running halves.

Faceoffs before each half.

Field approximately 70 x 40 yards.

Four foot nets but other sizes may be used if absolutely necessary.

"Sixes" format - 5 field players plus a goalie (or fake goalie "defender".  Goalie optional but HIGHLY encouraged.

There are no "position" players and no midfield line to restrain movement.  All five field players are free to move about the entire field of play.

Substitutions can occur either after a goal, out of bounds or on the fly.

All field players must use standard short sticks to emphasize stick skills and equal play.

No officials - each team should have one adult on the field to control play.

No body checking or stick checks that would be considered dangerous.   Two hands must remain on the stick at all times.

No penalties.  Adults on the field use judgement to remove a player from the field of play if a reminder as to proper behavior is required.  That player is immediately replaced by another member of his team.

When a ball goes out of bounds, possession is given to the team that is closest to the ball upon a shot or the opponent of the team who last touched the ball if not a shot.

Upon score, ball is taken out of the net and given to the goalie.  Scoring team proceeds to midfield line.  Ball is handed to either the goalie or another member of the offensive team and they are allowed to advance anywhere on the field.  Defensive team can approach the ball when it crosses midfield.  All new offensive players are free to move about the entire field of play upon obtaining possession of the ball from the goal after a score.
